About us:
Stephen Brown has been training race horses with great success for over 25 years.
In his home town of Darwin, Stephen has won 7 trainers premierships and a variety of feature races in the Territory.
In the 2000’s Stephen spent 4 years in Macau, achieving group 1 success in the Macau Derby two years in a row. He was able to also claim numerous other feature races.
After many years of successfully travelling horses south to win races all around Australia, in 2013 Stephen made the decision to relocate to Melbourne. After a successful stint training from Flemington in 2015 the family purchased a beautiful 400 acre farm in Mangalore. This property is now set up as a top class training facility. The combination of having a premium facility to train from as well as a an astute ability to purchase yearlings, improve tried horses and place horses in winnable races continues to be a key pillar to the teams success in Victoria.
Stephen still rides work today and his hands on approach allows him to have a great understanding of how the horses are travelling which allows him to place them to perfection. This hands on approach continues to be successful as Stephen's career strike rate sits at a impressive 15% win and 41% place rate.
Stephen’s wife Elisha is a critical part of the Success of SV Brown racing. Elisha wears multiple hats within the stable and team. Whether it assistant trainer or business manager. Elisha's input, hard work and eye for detail are just some of the foundations for the stables success over a long period of time.
Continuing the family theme Stephen Jnr is an accomplished jockey in Victoria. Stephen works incredibly hard at the stables whether it be riding work or riding winners for his father and others around Victoria. Having the ability to collaborate and work as a family from the farm continues to demonstrate success as horses such as Lady Jones continue to attempt to tackle black type races in the city. Lady Jones is a perfect candidate to demonstrate the stables success as it was a horse the family alongside loyal owners bred together. She is a great story and is evidence that the stable continues to head in the right direction.
