Bishops Castle Returns To Form
Bishops Castle continued his impressive form this preparation for new trainer Stephen Brown when he returned to the winner’s circle at Flemington on Saturday.
At his fourth start in Victoria after wintering in Darwin he defied the pundits and comfortably held off a quality off season field over 1200m including the hot favourite Reldas.
Brown is having a great run since establishing himself at Flemington, where he has leased 30 boxes from David Hayes.
It is the perfect training arrangement that is getting results. Brown’s daughter Alana and her partner Chris Nash run the trainer’s Darwin stable, and when the horses at the top end run into a bit of form they often find their way to Stephen at Flemington.
There was money for Bishops Castle after his recent good form and young apprentice Jake Bayliss rated the gelding very well from the front. After favourites had won the two previous races on the card punters loaded up on Reldas. The Smerdon trained galloper was always in the red but never really got into the race at any stage finishing fifth.
